Ways a 20 Index can improve

I taught as a Class A PGA Instructor for a few years and still love diagnosing and helping golfers get better.

I know golfers who love to compete; I know golfers who’d prefer to NEVER compete. But, seriously, who doesn’t want to get a little better or just have a better day because their game was comfortable, and they played at least as good as expected?

How to improve using exactly what you've got!

  1. Accept Where You Are!!
  2. Know your distances. This does not have to be exact!!! But you should know within 10 yards how far you hit each club. Why miss a green on a par 3 simply because you used you 6-iron and it should have been your 8-iron? And if it needs to be driver no matter how far-then use driver!!!
  3. Know your short game strengths. If you almost always mishit chips, do something else. Why chunk or skull a chip because that’s the shot you ‘are supposed to hit’ instead of using your putter or your 9-hybrid?
  4. Get Comfortable with Bunker Shots! Hit 1 inch behind the ball and follow ALL THE WAY THROUGH, throwing sand out onto the green. It is that simple for a basic greenside bunker shot.
