Harvest Senior Living of Roanoke

Harvest Senior Living

I could search all the important ‘key search words’ to raise this up in Search Engine Optimization but what is important here and for this topic in general is how a place makes me feel, how it smells and if I could see myself or someone close to me living there.

The warm and smiling girls at Harvest’s front desk were good ‘faces’ of this senior living community. I did not have an appointment on this Christmas Eve, Eve Day so I didn’t expect anything other than looking around on my own. Today was pajama day for employees and they all seemed to be enjoying the spirit! They offered a tour…I accepted!

Assisted Living & Memory Care

Alane Bujko stepped out to visit with me and has been here a long time; she likes where she works and who she works for and with. These are good signs to me that they are paid what they should be paid and are treated well. I think the chances of them treating me or a loved one well go way up when this is the case.

Beauty Salon in Harvest

What a beautiful, bright place this is!! Folks were all around either visiting, having a coffee or eating. The overall feel of this community was my favorite of the three visited this month.

They do have a video on YouTube but it is 4 years old and the word “amazing” is horribly overused so I didn’t add it to this post.

As we walked the campus, I peaked inside the salon (closed for the holiday but list of services and pricing above) and met the food and beverage director who was prepping the dining room for lunchtime. She shared today’s soup du jour and the menu with lots of choices, as well as nice ambience.

I also visited the 21 bed memory care area where they were having donuts and laughs with the staff. I even got to visit with Ms. Skinner whose son and daughter-in-law live here in Robson Ranch.

Here is what Mark Skinner had to say, “I’d give Harvest a thumbs up overall. It’s always clean, the chef does a good job with food and the staff are always friendly. Alane has always been helpful and good to deal with.”

The negatives for him were that the laundry doesn’t always make it back to his mom’s room correctly and although the staff are nice, they are not always on top of things as you’d hope.

He said the Memory Care Unit Director Denise is great and to wrap it up, he said, “When we looked around in May 2024, we felt Harvest offered the best mix of facilities, care and price.”

How Much Does This Cost?

You will owe a One-Time Fee of $3,000 regardless of which unit you choose or the extra care you need; the $3,000 is called a Community Fee. It’s just kind of a walking in the door fee and everywhere I’ve visited so far has something like this.

  1. Studio $4,990.
  2. One Bedroom $6,060
  3. Two Bedroom $7,645
  4. Second Person Fee $1,300

“Care Fees” are above and beyond your rent and go as follows based on an entry assessment of needs:

  • Level I-$850
  • Level II-$1,250
  • Level III-$1,850

Memory Care Apartments are more across the board.

Pet Fee is a one time non-refundable $650.
